A young big cat changing its teeth: Lions are classified as a protected species under CITES II and are protected species. Our specimens come from zoos or from imports with a confirmed origin. These animals died either due to old age or natural accidents. This young lion could have been attacked by a buffalo or a larger antelope, for example. The hole in the skull was not caused by a gunshot, but by a sharp object such as a horn. A gunshot would have caused more damage to the skull.
Instead of disposing of the carcasses, SWISSskulls buys these specimens and turns them into collector's items for lovers who dream of such large cats. The skull itself is usually not particularly expensive, but there are significant costs for transport, veterinary examinations and other processing before the skull is even ready for sale.
