Horse skull model
The narrow horse skull impresses with its impressive size and striking features. The long, wide nasal bones taper to a tapered end. At the front of the mouth there are impressive incisors that are perfect for cutting grass. In the back of the mouth there are six large, rectangular molars in both the upper and lower jaws.
The space between the incisors and molars, known as the diastema, houses a canine (stallion tooth, which is not present in all horses). The eye sockets are conspicuously placed far back on the skull, which is characteristic of grazing animals. The brain cavity is rather small in comparison. This impressive specimen comes from a retired police horse and consists of two parts - a separate skull and lower jaw.
The dimensions of this fascinating horse skull are 51 x 54 x 30 cm, making it stand out as an impressive example of animal anatomy.
